While browsing for a new bikini online today I was taken to a myspace page for a local surf shop. First I was annoyed they didn’t have a website, but soon moved on and was sidetracked by other fun things. Something I noticed was a NEW widget on someone’s profile. It was a cute little branded RSS feeder, now RSS feeds are all over the web, everyones got one right? Needless to say, what attracted my attention was that I had never seen one like this before, it looked professional and was branded. So I thought…”hmm what are these guys up too” and clicked the link…SpringWidgets.com.

The guys/girls at SpringWidgets are doing a cute thing. You can instantly make your own RSS widget to place on your own website and join their network for other to share. It’s all free and brandable. So now a website can easily link to their own blog, by featuring a nice RSS feed on the home page. Nice way to integrate and advertise a blog.

But is doesn’t stop there…being the quizzy person I am - I am always sussing out what’s hot and useful at good prices or free if possible, with out compromising on professionalism. I like to find tools that are free or low cost that I can recommend to website owners. So SpringWidgets is a must for all blog owners. If you don’t have a blog, but have a website, think about starting a blog that can work along side your website…this is mainly good for business websites.

Now I like to think I don’t miss much, but while I was signing up for my new SpringWidgets account I was asked if I had a FeedBurner.com account. FeedBurner… what the…? Sounds cool, let’s take a look.

Click…wow… on their home page is a news item stating that FeedBurner was recently acquired by Google…yeah yeah, who isn’t being bought by Google…yawn…The bit I found intriguing was the awesome tools they offer blog owners, pod casters and commercial businesses. They not only offer awesome blog promotion tools that also have this amazing program called FAN, Feed Advertising Network…a bit like Google Adwords, but for blogs.
